MGM has filed a zoning petition for Empire City in Yonkers, signaling its intention to apply for a casino license in the downstate of New York. Despite competition and regulatory uncertainty, MGM sees Empire City as a front-runner because of its size, income contribution, and ambitious refurbishment plans.
MGM Resorts International is getting ready to fight for one of the three licenses in light of the impending downstate New York casino license issue. This zoning petition, which comes before the proposed resolution for New York regulators, was recently submitted by the corporation to the City of Yonkers.
A petition was accepted by DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr, LLP at the courthouse located at 24 Clinton Street. The petitioners suggested building an empire city casino. This place functions as a stand-alone slot park at the moment.
In particular, each of the factors vying for the Empire Fortune City Casino license are important. With six of the top ten gaming floors in the US, it now holds the title of largest gaming area in the nation. It also gains a lot of pride in the city because it is one of the most well-known private enterprises that operates there and generates the majority of the tax income for the city. These advantages were emphasized by attorney Mark Weingarten in the zoning request document: “Empire City Casino is primarily utilized for gaming, horse racing and countless other types of entertainment.”
However, the deadline for granting licenses still needs to be specified, as it may be moved up to 2025 instead of this year. The licenses could be taken permanently by Resorts World New York and Empire City. Even while the fight for gender equality has made progress, much work remains. Agencies, going back to strict regulatory authorities, have not yet made their worries known in public. Simultaneously, about 10 additional businesses, including major players in the industry, are attempting to obtain licenses.
The greatest places for people to hang out and wager are Empire City and Resorts World New York, which some may undervalue despite the rivalry.
Positive attributes include their residence in their local communities, their established regulatory relationships, and their locations outside of Manhattan. MGM intends to transform Empire City Casino in New York by constructing a new sports complex, remodeling the current campus, adding additional dining options, a BetMGM sportsbook, and a gaming area modeled after the Las Vegas Strip. Because of a past controversy involving an MGM official and its ties to the resort parent company Genting, some residents, however, are skeptical of the reforms.
With these bold intentions and MGM's large investment, Empire City puts itself in a great position to compete for a downstate New York casino license. Still, there is intense rivalry, and state authorities have the last say in matters of this nature.
